What is dermaplaning?

Did you know that the fine hairs on your face (known as vellus hairs), combined with built up dead skin cells, can trap and hold dirt and oil close to the surface of the skin, causing you to break out? 😱

Dermaplaning is the process of removing the fine hairs of the face, along with a layer of dead keratinized skin cells, using a surgical steel or carbon fiber scalpel. This treatment, when performed by a trained and licensed skincare professional, provides an effective and safe exfoliation treatment that promotes deeper product penetration, boosting the effects of skin care products while making the skin look and feel smoother and also reducing the appearance of acne scars. I always tell my clients that dermaplaning provides a level of exfoliation that’s more intense than using a scrub, but less intense than a chemical peel.

Once we remove all the dead skin and vellus hair, clients will notice improvement in overall skin tone and texture instantly. And for my clients who like to wear makeup, they love how much more smoothly their foundation goes on and stays put!

Overall, the benefits of this 30 minute treatment include visible improvement of skins tone and texture ✅ improved product penetration and efficacy ✅ brightened complexion ✅ and improved cellular turnover encouraging the production of collagen ✅. I love to pair dermaplaning with a hydrojelly mask for softer, smoother, more hydrated skin you can actually see and feel when you leave the studio 😍
